About Westminster OPC
Westminster OPC is a congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church located at 32422 E Street in Hamill, South Dakota. We meet for worship every Sunday at 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM, with Sunday School for all ages at 10:00 AM.
What to Expect
At Westminster OPC, our worship is biblical, simple, and Reformed. The preaching of the scriptures of the Old and New Testament are central to our services. We sing from the Psalms and the great hymns of the Christian faith and confess our faith from our doctrinal standards—the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. We pray for the needs of our congregation, our community, and our world. You can hear our latest sermons at the Podcast page.
Our History
Westminster OPC traces its history to 1910 where it formed as a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in the United States. It was one of the founding congregations of the Presbyterian Church in America (later changed to Orthodox Presbyterian Church) when it separated from the PCUSA in 1936 in opposition to the latter’s theological liberalism. This cost the Hamill church its building. After meeting in various buildings (including a barn and a bank) Westminster moved to its current location in 1958. Westminster later planted its sister congregation 23 miles away in Winner, and the two churches maintain close relations.
